Bird Lives! Snuff There’s a lot of noiseBird Lives! was Red Rodney's first jazz performance as a leader in 14 years. After spending time in Las Vegas playing in show bands, he made a gradual comeback, but mostly stuck to bebop. This LP, last released in 1989, features Rodney, Charles McPherson, Barry Harris, Sam Jones, and Roy Brooks paying tribute to Charlie Parker with energetic renditions of six classic bop songs. Overall, the performance has its highlights.
