It was made from young single malts aged in bourbon and French oak barrels from the company's own wine production

and the fill level may also be suboptimal

nagahama new make whisky lightly peated Reimport Abgefüllt wurde ein Suntory SpecialIn 2016, a new small whisky distillery opened in Nagahama and put this new pot (the pure distillate, not aged in wooden barrels) from the first distillation process on sale to buy old barrels. These bottlings were strictly limited and are already sold out in Japan. This new pot was bottled at a robust 59% ABV and, compared to the new make bottling, has a slight peaty flavor, as peated malt was used in the distillation.
